Department Overview
The Business Resource Center (BRC) aims to build a strong foundation for UCOP financial operations, allowing departments to focus on their core duties. Our goal is to standardize procedures and controls to ensure maximum service to departments, as well as efficient, controlled and compliant transaction processing for administrative functions. BRC staff strive to provide excellent service while demonstrating accountability to stakeholders, including the Regents and the public.
The expected salary range for this position is $106,000- 120,000 per year.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Local Procurement, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist (SSS) will use their skills as a seasoned, experienced professional to coordinate a variety of diverse procurement operations including purchasing activities and relationship management with campus clients and suppliers to carryout efficiently as to facilitate continuous supply/service support to UCOP operating departments.
The SSS will develop supplier sourcing strategies, lead RFP solicitations, and drive collaboration in a cross-functional team to deliver quantifiable value. Success will result from adhering to proper policy while innovating creative solutions in a forward-thinking environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead diverse groups will be paramount.
The SSS will utilize their full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. The SSS will work on categories of diverse scope and complexity where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. The SSS will demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions; cultivate internal and some external contacts.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related area and 3+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, procurement or related experience in large organizations, and/or equivalent experience. Professional certification preferred.
Minimum 2 years demonstrated high level of product or service expertise including leading negotiations.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate with internal and external partners to accomplish projects.
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills including the effective presentation of strategies and progress to clients, stakeholders and leadership.
Demonstrated experience in use of Microsoft suite of productivity applications with a minimum of 3 years of experience in preparing spreadsheets for analytical purposes.
Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, identify and consider potential solutions and make timely recommendations. Works with others to effectively address issues when they occur. Excellent organization skills, including meeting facilitation and decision making.
Demonstrated understanding of and ability to comply with a complex array of University policies and state and federal laws that govern acquisitions. Knowledge of the specific category field in higher education or other highly decentralized organizations, including supplier, distribution models, products, and equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience using various proven negotiation’ methods and the ability to critically analyze a negotiation.
Demonstrated knowledge in the development of opportunity assessments, category profiles, and strategic sourcing plans.
Demonstrated ability to lead and advise cross organization workgroups.
