The Scholarships and Program Officer manages Triangle Community Foundation’s scholarship program and one impact area. They will foster relationships with scholarship recipients, grantee partners, our network of donors and philanthropic organizations, advisory committees, and others connecting donor and community engagement. The Program Officer contributes significantly to the Foundation’s community leadership role, helping us deliver on our mission, vision, and values. This position is responsible for the following:


Scholarships Management (50%)

·         Manage donor-directed and discretionary scholarship programs:

o    Collaborate with Marketing and Communications for outreach and advertisement.

o    Create and update application and evaluation forms annually.

o    Review applications and communicate with interested students.

o    Recruit, train, and lead scholarship program advisory committees in application review and selection processes.

o    Communicate with donors regarding updates, donor-involved committees, required documentation, and information from students.

o    Collect and process required scholarship documentation.

o    Process scholarship payments.

o    Oversee database record management for award activity.

o    Review semester reports for all multi-year scholarships; process donor-specific update documents.

·         Supervise seasonal part-time intern to support scholarships process.


Grant Program Management (30%)

·         Manage the Cultural Arts or Environmental Resilience grant programs:

o    Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to update and publicize call for proposals.

o    Update program documents including grant application, agreement, and reports.

o    Recruit and train advisory committee members.

o    Field nonprofit inquiries, screen proposals and complete due diligence for applicants.

o    Facilitate advisory committees to make grant decisions.

o    Process notifications and grant awards.

o    Manage reporting, storytelling, and grantee stewardship.

·         Support administration of other discretionary grantmaking programs and funds as needed.


Constituent Engagement (10%)

·         Donors: Offer excellent service, communication, and relationship management to scholarship donors to ensure the Foundation is achieving their philanthropic objectives; explore ways to engage donors with program recipients, grant activity and impact, and learning opportunities; engage other corporate donors and foundations who give in areas aligned with the Foundation’s impact areas.

·         Advisory Committees: Recruit and facilitate grant committees each year consistent with organizational values; ensure committee members connect with the Foundation in a meaningful way; recruit individuals who have lived and/or professional experience related to the grant program who represent the diversity of the Triangle.

·         Nonprofits and Community Members: Handle inquiries from grant program applicants; develop outreach strategies in partnership with program and marketing and communication teams; cultivate relationships with grantees; explore ways to build and facilitate connections between grantees in focus areas as well as connections with donors whose interests align with grantees’ work.


Special Projects (10%)

·         Support the planning and implementation of events that help educate donors, promote grantees and the nonprofit sector, and help position the Foundation as a trusted philanthropic partner.

·         Support internal teams and/or Board committees that promote the Foundation’s values and strategic goals.

·         Support other special projects that involve programs, scholarships, or the Community Engagement team as interest and capacity allow.
