Tobi Johnson & Associates, LLC (TJA) is a small, private training, coaching, and consulting firm dedicated to helping nonprofit and government organizations better engage and manage community volunteers. The firm is led by Tobi Johnson, MA, CVA and has been in business for over a decade. Throughout that time, we have established an international reputation as an innovative thought leader in the field of volunteerism.

In June 2015, we launched VolunteerPro, an online learning hub and paid membership  community that provides online training and coaching to employees who lead volunteers. Those who thrive in our environment are as passionate as we are about changing the world for the better.

Overview

We are seeking a talented Strategy Advisor to join our small but mighty team. This position is best suited for a highly motivated people person who has a proven track record of results in business development, fundraising, or sales. A passion for purpose-driven work, a serve-first approach, and a fearless, competitive spirit will make this the perfect fit for the right person.

The Strategy Advisor will work closely with the company President, our Marketing Manager, and our Virtual Assistant. They will be responsible for reaching out and connecting enterprise-based customers with products and services that help them achieve positive results that impact communities. The ability to quickly build rapport, advise with integrity, and finalize agreements is a must.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with a growth mindset, capable of managing their workload and daily deadlines while working remotely. This is a fast-paced small business where accountability matters, and each member’s contribution is vital to our success.

Responsibilities

§ General Administration

o   Manage and respond to emails in a timely manner

o   Manage personal schedule and bookings

o   Attend weekly team status/planning meetings

o   Organize and maintain cloud-based files and folders

o   Document and update standard business process documents (SOPs) related to responsibility area

o   Build out and update sales project plans

o   Maintain updated prospect and sales databases

o   Track and report sales KPIs

§ Client Outreach & Sales Prospecting

o   Set and maintain sales goals and objectives in partnership with leadership

o   Research and develop lists of organizations that are a good fit for our services

o   Follow up on leads and prospects supplied by Virtual Assistant

o   Use phone calls, Zoom, emails, and social media to reach potential clients

o   Book discovery calls to explore prospects current challenges and needs

o   Develop customized presentations and scripts to further sales process

o   Match clients with products and services that best suit them

o   Create and send proposal documents using branded templates

o   Negotiate and finalize client contracts using company format

o   Determine new opportunities for growth by observing the environment and current trends

o   Improve sales skills and strategies to increase success rates

§ Customer Care

o   Become an expert in our product offerings and serve as a go-to source for quality information and advising

o   Send out client contracts and manage contracting process to completion

o   Track payments and follow-up on lagging payments

o   Onboard customer teams so they are ready to take full advantage of product or service

o   Recommend customers to be featured in blogs and podcast interviews

o   Gather testimonials and customer success stories

o   Nurture and maintain meaningful relationships with customers to encourage trust and loyalty

§ Other  

o   General research

o   Advise Marketing Manager on launches and promotions

o   Proactively research and troubleshoot issues, as they arise

o   Other duties, as assigned

Experience

§ BA in business, communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or related

§ 3+ years of experience as a fundraiser, business development executive, sales representative, volunteer recruiter, or a related position

§ Exceptional grammar, writing, and verbal communications skills

§ Proficient with the following (or similar platforms):

o   Microsoft Office Suite, Calendly, DocuSign, OneDrive, ConvertKit, AirTable, Zoom, etc.

§ Experience in nonprofits, development, volunteer engagement, or small business a plus

Qualifications

§ A passion for the greater good (working for a cause, charity, or mission as an intern, volunteer, board member, freelancer, or employee)

§ Exceptional listening, communication, and diagnostic skills

§ Ability to build relationships, develop trust, and know when to persuade

§ Strong mathematical skills to calculate percentages, pricing, and discounts quickly and accurately

§ Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills to work collaboratively

§ Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with impeccable multi-tasking and ability to meet deadlines

§ Exceptional analytical skills (investigating, reviewing data, seeing trends, identifying obstacles, solving problems, etc.)

§ Working as part of a team and being accountable for your part

§ Eager for constructive feedback, willingness to admit and correct mistakes
