MOT is the educational arm of the Simon Wiesenthal Center

The Museum of Tolerance fulfills the mission of the Simon Wiesenthal Center through education and outreach, providing educational experiences within the Museum and beyond. The Senior Manager of Education supervises a creative, dedicated education team with diverse and multi-faceted programs and serves as the Museum’s educational liaison with all people, groups and organizations who interact with Museum programs. The Senior Manager of Education works closely with MOT senior staff to create educational content for the exhibits, tours and public programs. They will oversee current and future outreach programs and in conjunction with MOT staff help to develop a strategy for Museum Education to advance the Museum’s goals and mission. The Senior Manager of Museum Education reports to the Director, Museum Operations and Experience.

ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Direct oversight of all youth education programs of the Museum of Tolerance

·       Supervises, manages and mentors volunteer and paid tour guides, program assistants, group reservations and other front line staff

·       In conjunction with the Director, Museum Operations and Experience, MOT senior staff and faculty, develops content for school tours, education programs and trainings

·       Promotes and monitors educational content that reflects the diversity of the Museum’s collection and community

·       Works with staff to expand scope of outreach possibilities and accessibility

·       Leads regular Education Department meetings and trainings

·       Makes public presentations introducing and promoting the Museum’s Education programs

·       Monitors and reports on Museum grant obligations

·       Liaises with community organizations, non-profits, schools, colleges and universities

·       Other job related duties and responsibilities may be assigned as appropriate by the Director, Museum Operations and Experience

YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT FOR US IF YOU HAVE:

·       Minimum five years’ experience in museum education and curriculum design

·       Minimum five years’ of direct experience managing department and supervising staff

·       Outstanding communication, team building and leadership skills

·       Highly motivated, shows initiative, and the ability to problem solve

·       Ability to prioritize and multi-task; think creatively and strategically

·       Ability to communicate effectively in public

·       Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills

·       High degree of flexibility, can adapt easily to changing environments and tasks

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

·       Excellent IT and research skills

·       Advanced degree in Museum Education, Art History or related field preferred but not required
