The Center for Black Health & Equity (The Center) is the leading nationally recognized public health entity for solutions impacting African American health. We engage healthcare organizations, public health officials, faith leaders, and African American communities in health promotion and disease prevention work. We apply our proven policy and social change framework to our work in tobacco control, COVID-19, HIV/AIDS, women’s health, cancer, mental health, and other disparities. We are searching for a dynamic, consummate professional to join The Center team, and support the objectives of our organization.
This full-time, exempt position is fully remote with some office work and required travel. Preferred candidates will reside in the vicinity of Durham, North Carolina.
Responsibilities
- Process and prepare financial and business forms to check account balances, facilitate purchases, etc.
- Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested by the Finance Director.
- Create, send, and follow up on invoices.
- Review and adhere to budgets.
- Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheets.
- Review reports to ensure all calculations and data entries are correct.
- Reconcile discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with employees and clients.
- Collect information for payroll payments for employees.
- Assist the Finance Director in creating financial reports on a regular basis.
- Adhere to The Center’s financial policies and procedures.
- Answers questions and aids stakeholders, customers, and clients as needed.
- Handle communications with clients and vendors via phone, email, and in person.
- Attend Finance unit and company-wide meetings, sometimes assisting with financial reporting to the Executive and Deputy Directors.
- Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field
- Excellent mathematical skills
- Understanding of data privacy standards
- Excellent multi-tasker
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with financial, accounting, and/or business principles and practices
- Superior attention to detail
- Organizational skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Integrity and honesty
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks Online
- Ability to generate reports as requested.
- Ability to present and explain financial information.
