Judi’s House/JAG Institute (JH/JAG) is the only free-standing organization in Metro Denver devoted solely to supporting grieving youth and families through comprehensive care, research, education, and advocacy. Since 2002, JH/JAG has supported nearly 12,000 individuals, and educated many thousands more, toward the vision that no child should be alone in grief. As a member of the Development and Communications team, you will support internal and external fundraising and communications strategies, including website, social media, email marketing and community fundraising activities to drive the mission and vision of Judi’s House and JAG Institute (JH/JAG).

The Development and Communications Coordinator will collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy and Communications as well as the Marketing and Communications Specialist to develop targeted communications and generate creative and persuasive content for multiple communication channels and audiences to maximize the organization’s current impact and future growth.

Key responsibilities:

  • Use Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva to edit and update graphics, images, and layouts for online and print publications.
  • Write and publish monthly newsletters using Raisers’ Edge NXT or other available communications systems.
  • Compose and post digital content on the company’s website, social media accounts and email marketing
  • Monitor, track, and analyze appropriate web, social and advertising metrics to evaluate impact, performance, and effectiveness of external communications.
  • Manage and coordinate community fundraising events conducted by third parties on behalf of the organization.
  • Manage relationships and portfolio of existing third-party event hosts.
  • Identify and qualify potential new community fundraising and marketing opportunities.
  • Represent organization at third-party events and outreach opportunities.
  • Daily administrative tasks to ensure the functionality and coordination of the department’s activities.
  • Support development/communications department in organizing various projects.
  • Administrative assistance with gift processing and donor acknowledgement systems.
  • Attend team and organizational meetings, activities, and events as required.

Requirements, skills, and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • 2 years prior marketing, fundraising or nonprofit experience.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills; able to tell a story with passion and make complex ideas and topics understandable.
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Superb writing and editing skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficient with social media and how it can be leveraged for multiple audiences including donors, clients, trainees, and consumers.
  • Successful project management that includes collaborating with staff, vendors, and diverse stakeholders to establish and carryout workplans, deadlines, budgets, and reporting.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks within multiple projects across departments.
  • Respectful and thoughtful about bereavement counseling and the impact of this process on the constituency served at Judi’s House.
  • Ability to work independently and seek guidance as appropriate.
  • Familiarity with technology platforms required for the functions of the position, including website, email marketing, social media, graphic design.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Raiser’s Edge a plus.

The candidate selected for this position will work primarily in our Aurora location but is eligible to work remotely up to one day per week at the manager’s discretion.
