Role and Responsibilities  

The ideas42 Academy seeks to teach and coach leaders and managers from government, non-profit, for-profit and philanthropic sectors in the use of applied behavioral science. The aim of this effort is to build the capacity of others to apply behavioral science in a high-quality way for social good. Our current offerings include off-the-shelf tools for practitioners, seminars by leading academics, short courses in behavioral design, and customized training programs. The Academy supports the broader mission of ideas42 to help make the use of applied behavioral science ubiquitous across social impact work.

ideas42 is seeking a detail-oriented, self-starter with a track record of success in building and managing high-impact adult educational programming to oversee and grow the Academy. The Curriculum & Development Manager and ideas42’s Chief Innovation Officer and will work closely with ideas42 staff from across the organization to execute programming for external audiences and contribute to the development of new product/class offerings. Responsibilities include: managing existing programs (Seminar Series, Crash Course), coordinating Academy marketing activities, supporting the development of new Academy offerings, contributing to Academy strategy, and ultimate responsibility for the Profit and Loss of the Academy. This role needs a person who can help set strategy, develop content and programs, and contribute to the execution of the programs.

This is a unique opportunity to grow an early-stage non-profit venture within a stable and established non-profit organization. This role holds immense growth opportunity. The academy has massive potential for revenue and impact growth. As the Academy grows, we anticipate adding team members to the Academy team. The Academy is a division of ideas42 and is run and measured as a socially responsible earned revenue self-sustaining effort.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and grow the ideas42 Academy
  • Set strategy and course offering in conjunction with the Chief Innovation Officer
  • Responsible for the profit and loss of the ideas42 academy
    Marketing and sales of the Academy course offerings to individuals and institutions
  • Support the conceptualization, development, and execution of new Academy offerings
  • Proactively research and implement evidence-based adult learning strategies
  • Coordinate all aspects of the existing Behavioral Science for Practitioners Crash Course, including, instructor liaison, marketing, registration tracking, participant communications, course execution, and evaluation
  • Coordinate all aspects of the ideas42 Seminar Series, including, presenter recruitment and communication, marketing, registrant tracking, webinar platform management, video editing, and participant follow-up
  • Work closely with the Communications Team to maintain and update the Academy webpage

Qualifications 

Minimum qualifications 

  • At least 5 years of experience managing programs or work streams in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience liaising with clients or external partners in a highly professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively solve problems and develop and implement solutions
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and consistency
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to proactively establish good working relationships with people at all levels and from diverse professional backgrounds
  • Interest in and willingness to learn more about applied behavioral science and adult learning
  • Commitment to our mission
  • An ownership mentality and growth mindset

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prefer degrees in psychology, behavioral economics, public policy, or related discipline; education, communication; and/or audio & video production, film.
  • Experience managing training or capacity development programs
  • Knowledge of adult learning pedagogy
  • Knowledge of applied behavioral science
  • Sales and marketing to institutional clients for training or service offerings

The ideas42 application process has four stages:

  • Application: Submit your application and resume
  • Case Study: Selected candidates will receive a short assignment, to be completed over approx. 1 week
  • First Round Interview: Selected candidates will be invited to interview with an ideas42 program team member
  • Final Round Interview: Selected candidates will be invited to interview with an ideas42 senior team member. References will also be requested and contacted during this time.
