Executive Director

Remote, full-time

$75,000-$85,000 based on experience.

The Global Alliance for Rheumatic and Congenital Hearts [Global ARCH] is a US-based registered charity that works to improve life-long outcomes in heart diseases that begin in childhood.  We do this through connecting and empowering global patient and family organizations to serve their communities and advocate for the worldwide provision of needed services. Together we learn, collaborate, and speak out about the unmet needs of those living with childhood-onset heart conditions. We currently represent 50 member organizations from all regions of the world.

We are seeking a dynamic, capable, and multifaceted nonprofit professional to serve as Executive Director.  As our first full-time executive, this individual will be responsible for translating our strategic plan into action and securing the resources needed to significantly expand Global ARCH’s program and impact. This includes identifying staffing needs and hiring and supervising Global ARCH staff as we transition from a volunteer to professional organization.  This individual will oversee and coordinate Global ARCH activities as follows:

·       Strategic Leadership: Oversee the execution of Global ARCH’s strategic plan and ensure programs and activities meet Global ARCH’s mission and strategic objectives.

·       Development: Expand development activities to ensure sustained growth. Identify new sources of grant funding and execute all stages of the grant submission and management process.  Work with the board to expand individual donations and other fundraising activities.

·       Program Management:  Oversee and coordinate existing Global ARCH program activities and identify and secure needed staff to achieve program objectives. Work with the Global ARCH program committee to develop and distribute training and educational materials.

·       Member engagement: Work with board and volunteers to identify and recruit new organizational members and serve as the organizational interface for its members, collaborators, and the public.  Ensure maintenance of member and donor database.

·       Communications: Update Global ARCH’s communications plan and identify needed resources to manage Global ARCH channels, including Mailing List, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter; Work with Communications and Advocacy committees to create content.

·       Financial Management:  Work with Treasurer to oversee fiscal operations and implementation of policies. Prepare and manage budgets and ensure preparation of quarterly financial reports.

The ideal candidate should have

·       College degree or international equivalent

·       5+ years of experience in non-profit leadership

·       Experience supervising staff and volunteers

·       Successful track record in fundraising

·       Full English fluency

·       Excellent written and spoken communication skills

·       Proficiency in a second language

·       Ability to work successfully in communities with diverse backgrounds

·       Experience working in health advocacy, equity or access issues

Work schedule will be variable and candidate must have flexibility to accommodate meetings across all global time zones, which may include before 7 am or after 9 pm. Individuals directly affected by rheumatic or congenital heart disease are strongly encouraged to apply.
