Grants Accounting Assistant

Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $20/ per hour

Summary:  Families Together is a community-based non-profit dedicated to ending family homelessness in Wake and surrounding counties. We believe every family deserves a home and children should never have to wonder where they’re going to sleep at night.

The Grants Accounting Assistant works with the Finance Director to provide support for various aspects of Families Together finance.  Activities are varied and may change as organizational goals, strategies, and objectives shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile and review all eligible expenses to be charged to governmental grants and contracts.
  • Prepare monthly reimbursement requests to government agencies.
  • Prepare all submission in accordance with filing deadlines and allow time for appropriate review.
  • Review expense disbursement on a weekly basis for proper account coding and communicate discrepancy to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintain monthly grants and contracts “budget versus actual” expense spreadsheets for compliance; identify issues and work to clarify or report to Finance Director.
  • Assist with audit preparations including performing grant reconciliation of general ledger accounts and compiling related supplemental schedules.
  • Maintain grant and contract files – both electronic and physical.
  • Assist with documentation of finance office procedures.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in accounting.
  • Demonstrated QuickBooks experience.
  • Demonstrated experience prioritizing/managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Excel including formulas and pivot tables.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in the office or virtually.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and internet/emails tools.

 

Schedule/Location/Office Environment:

  • Flexible during standard work week – 20-24 hours/week.
  • Families Together Office – 908 Plainview Drive, Raleigh, NC 27610
  • Remote home office.
