Position Summary:

The Development Associate will play a pivotal role in supporting the daily operations of the Advancement Department, which encompasses development, communications and policy. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Development Associate is responsible for providing key support related to all aspects of fundraising, communications, and administration within the Advancement Department. The Development Associate is responsible for the management of the donor database and assists in the project management of a variety of initiatives including events, individual and corporate giving, donor prospect research, and social media strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Raiser’s Edge database, including data entry, clean-up, gifts, funder contacts, and entering meetings and calls.
  • Work closely with the finance department to track pledges and donations; manage the donation reconciliation process with the finance department.
  • Maintain an internal events calendar for all ExpandED events including trainings, coalition meetings, fundraisers and board meetings.
  • Support Communications Director by managing communications lists for newsletters, coordinate website content and social media posts.
  • Draft briefings for funder calls and meetings for the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Advancement Officer.
  • Assist with event logistics including preparing printed materials, tracking donations, working with vendors, and coordinating volunteers at events.
  • Perform other organizational and administrative priorities as may be required.



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and 1-2 years of fundraising experience at a nonprofit or campaign.
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or equivalent fundraising database.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent social media skills.
  • Familiarity with the NYC philanthropic community a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards for presentation of written material.
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment with humor and flexibility.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborate with colleagues across multiple departments, prioritize competing tasks, and follow through on assignments.

Salary Range: $58,000 – 63,000
