Market on a Mission

The Boston Public Market Association (BPMA) seeks a Development Coordinator who will report directly to the CEO and who shall be responsible for organizing and executing fundraising efforts for our   nonprofit organization.  As part of a collaborative team at a small non-profit organization, the Development Coordinator shall work closely with the CEO, Director of Marketing as well as the Development/Fundraising Committee of the Board of Directors to build relationships with organizations and individuals and secure key philanthropic support.

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Identify a strong prospect list of individuals and organizations, both locally and nationally, of potential funders and donors;
Communicate and meet with prospective donors, with CEO and/or organization stakeholders/board members as appropriate, to network and solicit financial support for the organization;
Develop strong relationships with prospective donors including individuals and organizations and maintain those relationships on an ongoing basis;
Identify potential sources of public and private grants, and prepare and submit relevant grant applications;
Working with the marketing team, help to develop materials effective for potential funders and donors, and assist with planning and executing any Market events which have a fundraising component;
Work with the CEO to develop fundraising goals, and report to the CEO and Board of Directors Development Committee updates on activities and progress towards fundraising goals;
Maintain effective database of fundraising prospects and activities.

 

Qualifications/Required Skills:

1-3 years of experience in Development/Fundraising;
Knowledge of successful fundraising practices and strategies;
Self-motivated and ability to work independently to drive measurable success;
Demonstrated ability to work on a small collaborative team;
Some knowledge of fundraising databases and software;
Interest in working in a nonprofit setting with a diverse group of community stakeholders;
High caliber written and verbal communication skills.

 

Compensation, Benefits and Work Environment:

This is a full – time salaried position at a compensation of approximately $60,000.  Benefits include health care and dental care, vacation and personal days, commuter pre-tax accounts and a collaborative work environment.  This position requires 3 days per week in office but with a flexible approach given the needs of the employee and BPMA.  All employees of BPMA are required to show proof of full vaccination against covid-19.
