Position Overview
Our nonprofit is in search of a seasoned individual to support the implementation of all aspects of fundraising activities. This position has the primary responsibility of identifying, writing, and reporting on grants as well as crafting donor appeals, retention campaigns, and tracking individual, foundation, and corporate donations while strategizing donor-related marketing and providing support for special events. Additionally, while aiding in the research and cultivation of new funding sources, this position will support the CEO’s outreach work to raise funds and build awareness and visibility of the organization across our service area.
The incumbent will report to the Chief Executive Officer with a dotted line to the Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities Include
Grant Management
- Track and maintain queue of all grant and foundation applications, reports, and meetings, ensuring the timely and complete submission of all applications and reports.
- Write and assemble applications and reports, providing compiled documentation, research, and support materials, and ensuring their delivery.
- Ensure all award documentation requirements are disseminated to all staff with a regular review of activities with the appropriate team leader.
- Collaborate with Education and Program Team to source funding for new and/or innovative initiatives.
- Solicit and maintain documentation and support materials such as letters of support, expressions of gratitude, stories from artists and educators, interviews, photos, and/or videos.
- Research grant opportunities from government and non-governmental agencies.
- Disseminate reports on organizational activity to stakeholders.
Donor Cultivation, Engagement, and Retention
- Implement short and long-term strategies to expand individual, corporate, and foundation contributions, satisfying recognition plans for all levels of giving.
- Ensure that contributions and donor data are properly maintained in the organization’s donor database.
- Track and manage all follow up with funders.
- Collaborate with Communications Team regarding updating digital content related to organizational data and contributed income on multiple platforms including, but not limited to, our website, social media, and non-profit account profiles (i.e., Candid).
- Organize the documentation of updated workflows and/or policies for contributed income operations, recommending revisions as needed.
- Work with CEO, Operations Team, and members of the Board of Directors to organize and execute fundraising events by serving as lead project manager for special events.
- Support Chief Executive Officer with arts advocacy, cultivation of volunteers, supporters, and partners by researching, preparing materials, and documenting activities.

- Advance the organization’s commitment to the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA).
- Support and advocate the organizational mission.
- Contribute to growth of organization and achievement of strategic priorities.
- Exchange ideas with colleagues in the nationwide Young Audiences’ network and beyond.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or commensurate work experience.
- Significant professional writing experience with demonstrated results.
- Agile self-starter with strong organizational skills including planning and program assessment.
- Comfortable and able to manage project workflows within a small team and leadership structure despite competing priorities in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; a concise, persuasive, and passionate communicator.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Well-developed research and networking expertise.
- Familiarity with budgeting and ability to understand financial statements.
Preferred Requirements
- Nonprofit fundraising experience with measurable results.
- Experienced with Network for Good donor management software or other donor management software and best practices.
- Hands-on experience and understanding of Constant Contact, Canva, WordPress, and social media management platforms.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary with paid time off, health insurance, life insurance, and opportunity to contribute to a 403(b)-retirement plan.
Work Hours
Many responsibilities can be accomplished while working remotely or in the field but must be able to participate in person in some daytime, evening, and weekend meetings, requiring provision of personal transportation.
Compensation
Hourly rate range of $20-22
