2011 PROGRAM SCHEDULE

 2011 Kickoff Event, Thursday, January 27th 5:30 – 8:30 pm at the Musical Instrument Museum…Learn about the benefits of YNPN Phoenix membership, network with the Valley’s emerging nonprofit and community leaders and take a complimentary tour of MIM, a truly world-class institution located in our own backyard.

 4th Annual Bowling Extravaganza! Thursday, February 17th 6:00 – 8:00 pm, AMF Squaw Peak Lanes…YNPN Phoenix’s 4th Annual Bowling Extravaganza will be strictly fun and games and an opportunity for members & non-members to network and get to know each other better. Come out and bowl a few rounds with fellow nonprofit enthusiasts!  Shoe rental, bowling, pizza & beverages are included.

Introducing Effective Nonprofit Process Practices into Your Organization, Thursday, March 24th 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Tempe History Museum…Raquel Gutierrez, Ph.D. of One Tree Many Seeds Consulting facilitates a discussion about how to introduce strengths-based processes into your work that will enrich your effectiveness and that of your organization.  Drinks & Appetizers will be served.

Friends and Film Night, Thursday, April 21st 6:00 – 8:00 pm, MADCAP Theaters…Join fellow YNPN’ers for a documentary film screening at Tempe’s nonprofit MADCAP movie theaters, followed by a film discussion forum and networking. Drinks & Appetizers will be served.

Collaboration and Community Engagement, Thursday, May 19th 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, National Bank of Arizona…Hildy Gottlieb of Creating the Future will help you discover how engagement and cooperation can simultaneously build strong communities and strong programs – all while making your job easier.  In this session you will move from “collaboration frustration and trepidation” to a joyful and effective way of accomplishing your mission. Lunch will be provided and all attendees will receive a free copy of Hildy’s “Community Engagement Step-by-Step Action Kit”!

YNPN Phoenix Speed Networking Night, Thursday, June 16th 5:00 – 7:00 pm, FEZ…Held on the private patio of FEZ bar and restaurant in Central Phoenix, the YNPN Phoenix Speed Networking Night will feature a game that will encourage members to meet numerous other attendees in a fun and light-hearted way. After the game, attendees will have a chance to linger and continue networking, while enjoying food and drinks provided by YNPN Phoenix.

Office Yoga & Stress Management, Thursday August 4th, 11:30am -1:30pm, St. Mary’s FoodBank Alliance…Work/Life Balance can often feel less like a set of scales and more like a tightrope walk.  Both seasoned and young professionals alike struggle to find the balance between being driven and ambitious verses burnt out and overworked.  Bring your lunch and join YNPN Phoenix as we explore this topic as it relates to the sustainability of the nonprofit sector.  You can learn more abou this topic by reading the ASU Lodestar Center blog written by Laci Lester.

YNPN Phoenix Member Retreat, August 26-28th, Jackpot Ranch, Camp Verde…Join your fellow YNPN Phoenix members on a weekend get-away designed to rejuvenate and re-energize.  Members will work together to reflect on organizational strengths and areas for growth and set goals for YNPN Phoenix in 2011-2012.

Nonprofit Executive Director Forum: Everything you wanted to know about being a nonprofit leader, but never had the chance to ask! Thursday, September 15th 11:30 – 1:30 pm, National Bank of Arizona…Join YNPN for a panel discussion and small group break-out sessions with local nonprofit CEOs/EDs from the arts, education, and health/human services sectors. Learn about the career paths that led them to their leadership positions, what factors contributed to their success, what steps you can take to follow in their footsteps, and where they see the next opportunities in the Phoenix market.

YNPN Tour de Phoenix: Nonprofit, Saturday, October 22nd 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, Multiple Valley Nonprofits…Hop on board light rail for YNPN Phoenix’s 3rd Annual Tour de Phoenix: Nonprofit!  Join us for a day of networking as you tour and learn about a variety of Valley nonprofit organizations.

YNPN Phoenix Gives Back, Holiday Happy Hour, Thursday, December 15, 5pm – ?? Click to registerIt’s YNPN Phoenix’s last event of the year and we need you to help us end it on a fun note! Join us Dec. 15th, 5pm – ??? at the Duce in downtown Phoenix for a nite of giving, connecting, fun and of course drinking at one of Phoenix’s most unique locations.

In the spirit of the holidays we ask that you bring a new or gently used board/card game to be donated to the Dysart Community Center. So don’t be a Grinch and help us help others while enjoying the company of your fellow professionals.

There will also be a prize for most festive/fun holiday hat – we look forward to your creativity!
