National Voice Mission
The mission of YNPN’s National Voice initiative is to serve as a collective voice for young nonprofit professionals.
National Voice works to provide the research, insight and tools YNPN members need to understand the issues that impact them, enabling them to advocate for a more viable, sustainable nonprofit sector. National Voice focuses its work around the following areas:
- Empowering young leaders to build sustainable careers in the nonprofit sector
- Promoting diversity and inclusiveness in the nonprofit sector
- Understanding generational differences to improve how leaders of different generations work together
Empowering Young Leaders/Professionals
YNPN believes young professionals have an important role to play in helping to develop the nonprofit community for the future. Tapping into their energy and talent may require alternative organization and reporting structures, as well as an increased understanding by young professionals where they can be their own advocates and enhance their possibilities for success.
Building Sustainable Careers
To ensure a sustainable sector and viable communities, it is vital to engage and retain a workforce of talented and passionate young people in the nonprofit community. However, without a positive and meaningful experience, we will not be able to retain this workforce given the transferable skills, openness to change and desire for work-life balance of the younger generations.
By helping individuals learn to advocate within their organizations and associations to build sustainable career tracks and a high level of investment in quality employees, YNPN will ensure that our communities around the nation thrive.
Diversity
YNPN believes diversity in the nonprofit community is crucial. Through including diverse voices around the YNPN table, we are devoted to addressing the need for diversity in the nonprofit community and in the wider society. YNPN commits to encouraging and promoting inclusion within and beyond our membership as an underlying objective of all that we do.
Generational Differences
YNPN believes the nonprofit community will be most effective when individuals of many generations work together to leverage their strengths. By creating synergies between generations, the future leaders of the nonprofit community will be able to build on previous success and continue the good work done by those retiring or moving on from their agencies.
